The 22 days Rwanda and Uganda safari uncovers the most enthralling Gorilla experience by allowing you to track the endangered apes in both Uganda and Rwanda. Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kigali
On arrival at the Airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative who will transfer you to Kigali for refreshment and overnight stay. Early arrivals will enable you visit some places in Kigali like the shopping centers, Genocide Memorial sites and so on. Dinner and overnight stay at;

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, you will depart for Akagera National Park which is located along the Rwanda and Tanzanian border. After lunch at the Lodge, you will go for the afternoon boat trip on the Lake Ihema to see the large number of hippos, the huge crocodiles and an array of bird species. Retire in the evening to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at;

Day 3: Game drive and transfer back to Kigali
After breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive in search for the large herds of game animals which the park is famous for including; Burchell’s Zebra, lions, elephants, topis, giraffes, impalas and over 425 species of birds including the rare shoe billed stock, African jacana, sacred ibis, goliath heron among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, drive back to Kigali for dinner and overnight stay at;

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park. En route stopover at Gikongoro for a tour of the Genocide Memorial of Murambi will take you back a step in time. Have lunch in Butare town which is the 2nd largest town in Rwanda and also considered the cultural capital. The city hosts the university and the National Museum with very rewarding handicraft shops where typical products made by Rwandan artisans are sold. After this, you will proceed with your journey and visit the Royal Palace in Nyanza. The site displays original items and pieces of history of the Old Mwami who was the King of Rwanda. Later after lunch you will continue with your Journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park for dinner and overnight stay at;

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe
After an early breakfast, you will leave the lodge or guest house and enter the forest to search for the Chimpanzees and also other primates like the Angolan colobus. The park hosts 13 species of primates and these include: chimpanzees, Rwenzori colobus, L’Hoest Monkey, silver monkey, owl faced monkey, red tailed monkey, vervet monkey, olive baboon and Africa’s largest population of the black and white colobus monkey among others. Day 6: Forest walks in Nyungwe
After breakfast, you will spend another day in the forest participating in the forest walk which can take about 4-5 hours up to the water falls. You may also spot other primate species missed out in the previous primate trek as well as a number of forest birds. You may as well go for a canopy walk instead of a nature walk as you enjoy the magnificent views of the forest. Return for dinner and overnight stay at;

Day 7: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, you will leave Nyungwe Forest National Park and transfer to northern Rwanda to the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes where Parc National Des Volcanoes is located. The drive from Nyungwe to Volcanoes will take you almost 5-6 hours. Upon reaching PNV you will relax as you prepare for your Gorilla trek the next day. Dinner and overnight stay at;

Day 8: Mountain Gorilla tracking
After breakfast, you will report to the Park headquarters at around 7:00am for a briefing from the senior park ranger guide. After this, you will be accompanied by your ranger guide and start your trek into the forest to search for the habituated Mountain Gorilla family allocated to your group. You are reminded to bring with you packed lunch and bottled Mineral water. In terms of clothes, trekking boots, long sleeved shirts and blouses, rain coats, and Cameras are highly recommended for the trek. The time you will spend in the forest searching for the Gorillas is not predictable as it depends on where they will have spent the previous night. Once you come across the Gorillas, all the troubles you will have gone through to reach them will be easily shade off and instead utilize the one hour you have with them to get a memorable experience. Day 9: Golden Monkey trekking/ Dian Fossey’s grave
After breakfast, you may go to trek the Golden Monkey which is a rare monkey species also found in this park. Alternatively, you can trek the Dian Fosse’s grave and also visit her research center at Karisoke. Dian Fossey was an American zoologist who pioneered the conservation of the Mountain Gorilla and was killed at her research center in 1985. She was buried there next to her beloved gorilla-Digit at a place between Karisimbi and Bisoke volcanoes hence the name Karisoke. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at;

Day 10: Transfer to Uganda and then to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, you will cross the Rwanda- Uganda Border and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. The journey will offer you with sights of the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with terraced landscape of the Kigezi sub region. Upon arrival at Bunyonyi, have lunch and later carry out an afternoon boat ride on the lake which will reward you with sights of different birds on the many small islands on this lake. It was upon this great bird population that the lake was named Bunyonyi which means many small birds. L. Bunyonyi was formed as a result of the volcanic lava blocking the river at the present day Muko, forming a wide dam. The lake is the deepest in Uganda and 2nd in Africa. Dinner and overnight in;

Day 11: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi via the Kabale region commonly known as the Switzerland of Africa. Upon reaching Bwindi, have lunch and then spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing at your lodge while preparing for your gorilla trek the next morning, or go for an optional evening walk to the local community of the Bakiga to explore how they make their local brew, traditional dances, and their general lifestyle. Day 12: Gorilla tracking
After an early breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters with packed lunch where you will be briefed about the mountain gorilla trackers’ code of conduct. Later you will enter the impenetrable forest for a more adventurous and exciting lifetime experience of Mountain Gorilla tracking. You are all reminded to go with your bottled water since the tracking duration depends on the ease to see the gorilla that day and where they slept the previous night. Besides the Gorillas, you are also likely to spot other forest wildlife like the Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Red Tailed Colobus, Blue Monkey, L’hoests and baboons and many more. The forest is also home to about 120 mammal species most of which are forest based like the giant forest hog among others. The forest’s 350 bird species including the Albertine rift endemics will sing you refreshing melodies to ease your trek as you maneuver your way through this dense forest. Day 13: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will enter the park via Ishasha sector in search for the rare tree climbing lions. Have lunch at Ishasha as you spot the hippos in the Ishasha River. You may also spot buffaloes, Kob and topis grazing in the Ishasha plains as well as a leopard on its hunt if lucky. Day 14: Game drive and afternoon Launch cruise
After your breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive in Kasenyi area to search for different wildlife species missed out in the previous game drive and the early raisers like lions, hyenas, jackals, leopards among others as they retire from a night hunt. Later visit the Katwe explosion craters. Here you will spot salt mining on L. Katwe and the enormous Kamengo Crater and this will give you clear view of different wildlife around the Park. In the afternoon, go for the launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel where you will be rewarded with wildlife sights of species like the Hippopotami, Waterbucks, Crocodiles and a variety of Water Birds like the black bee- eater, pelicans, African fish eagle, African skimmer, several species of falcons and the raptors, African fish eagle, African skimmer among others and the prehistoric looking shoebill if lucky. Day 15: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park popular for its great population of primates including the Chimpanzee and also a good habitat for a lot of bird species. En route to the Park you will enjoy a game drive that will expose you to different wildlife species such as Elephants, Buffalos, Uganda Kob and if you are lucky, you may also spot the Hyena, Lions, Leopard and perhaps the Giant Forest Hog. Reach Kibale in the afternoon where you will check in at your lodge and later go for the evening nature walk around the Lodge. Dinner overnight at;

Day 16: Chimp tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk
Upon having breakfast in the morning at your lodge, you will go for the life time Chimpanzee tracking experience in their natural environment and habitat. You will first report to the Park Headquarters at Kanyanchu for a briefing about the chimp trackers’ code of conduct by a senior park ranger guide and then later go for the morning chimpanzee tracking experience. You will explore the forest under the guidance of an armed ranger for the tracking. Besides the chimps, you may spot other primates like Varvet Monkey, L’hoest, Blue Monkey, Red-Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Black And White Colobus Monkey, bonobo among others. The park is home to 13 primate species, the highest in Africa which gave it the brand of being the Primate capital of the world. Return to the lodge for Lunch and later go for the afternoon Bigodi swamp walk to search for different bird and primate species as well as supporting the local community projects in Bigodi village. Day 17: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After a morning breakfast, you will drive to Murchison falls with lunch en route in Hoima. The journey will reward you with spectacular views of the magnificent scenery of the Rwenzori glacial peaks as you drive through the traditional homesteads and farms on your way to Murchison. Reach Masindi town in the evening and then proceed to the Park for dinner and overnight stay at;

Day 18: Game drive and launch cruise along the Albert Nile
After breakfast, you will set out for game drive on the northern sector of the Park. Here you will search for the early risers where you may be able to spot animals like Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Warthogs, baboons, Giraffes, Water bucks, bush bucks among others. If you are a lucky visitor, you can also spot the Leopard. The game drive can take like 4-5 hours and this is the longest game drive in all Uganda’s game parks. Return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will set out for the launch cruise along the Nile where you will enjoy the cruise and can be able to spot animals like hippos, crocodiles, Oribis, buffalos and the wonderful bottom of the falls. Day 19: Chimpanzee tracking and top of the falls
Take breakfast and leave for chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi area within Budongo Forest. There are a number of chimpanzees as well as other primates. Have lunch at Kaniyo Pabidi and in the afternoon, visit the top of the falls where you will be rewarded with sights and sound of the Albert Nile crashing through the chasm. The water forces itself in a narrow gap in a rock only 7 meters wide pouring into a gorge 43 meters down producing a thunderous roar making it the strongest/ hardest waterfalls the world has seen. Day 20: Transfer back to Kampala and departure

Day 21: Transfer to Jinja for white water rafting and visit the source of the Nile
Depart after your breakfast for Jinja, arriving in time to take an adventurous cruise along the Nile as you cruise past the different six grades of rapids which will often pose a thrilling challenge of putting you down. After this breathtaking experience, you will proceed to Jinja to see where the Nile begins its long journey from L. Victoria to Mediterranean Sea. Return to Kampala in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at;

Day 22: Departure
